Advise on how to connect RGB and Fans?

Sneakyf0x

I am planning to have 7 NZXT Fans with RGB + NZXT Kraken z73 pump. So I would assume I need 8 RGB headers. The case is Phanteks Eclipse P500A ATX Mid Tower Case.

My motherboard (Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero ATX AM4 Motherboard) has 2 RGB headers and 3 case fun headers. From my understanding I will need to buy controllers. I looked the one from NZXT (https://www.amazon.com/NZXT-RGB-Fan-Controller-AC-2RGBC-B1/dp/B082PM4K93) but it seems to only have 2 RGB slots and 3 fun slots. Am I missing something or would I have to get 3 of those? If so which alternative would you recommend?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but this is my first build

You can daisy chain multiple RGB fans together. They usually come with dual clips for this purpose.

You need to be careful not to overload the mobo header though.

So check the amp load of the fans and the header to be sure you don't daisy chain too many together.

The products webpage and/or user manual should have this information.

For example, I have 2 RGB headers. Each one supports 3 amps and my RGB fans have a load of approx 0.3 amps per fan, so I put all 4 on my one header.

This is safely within spec.
