What do I do... I just bent 2 pins on my CPU

breadywastaken
Go to solution Solved by breadywastaken,

Thanks for all the advice! I mainly ended up using a stick pin from a sewing kit, because it has a handle, and then getting finer with the other tools, and it works! Thanks! I've attached a picture mainly because the cooler I have on it looks cool lol

I was putting my cpu in its socket, and I bent 2 pins, what should I do?

I filed a RMA, but I don't think it covers that

RMAs do not cover that, unfortunately for you. If they aren't bent bad in most cases they can be bent back as long as you're careful and they will still work as they should.

Razor blade.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

Word!

I use my library card which is thinner than an ID or credit card for slightly bent pins like this.

Run the card threw the row and gently rock the card side to side. This should straighten the pin to that row.

Wash rince repeat.

If they are on the edge, you can use a standard mechanical pencil and it will fit perfectly on the pin, and as long as you are gentle, it will work. Had to do that on my 2600X. (I sneezed while putting it in the socket .......)

Use a 0.7mm mechanical pencil (why does it sound like a gun), take everything inside the pencil out, align pen tip with the pin and carefully, without applying a lot of force, you can fix it.
