XMP cause games and discord to crash

Hey, so i enabled xmp profile on my computer because the advertising speed on my ram was 3200 and my computer was running at auto which was 2133 and xmp worked but ever since then my games kept crashing and sometimes discord would crash too. I'm confused if it is my motherboard or something else i am clueless any help would be great.

My PC Specs:

Motherboard: Asrock b450 Gaming K4

CPU: Ryzen 5 2600 Clockspeed: 3.4 GHz Turbo Speed: 3.9 GHz
RAM: Vengeance RGB Series 16GB DDR4 3200MHz
GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 2060
HDD: 2TB
SSD: 240 GB

Since XMP will be pushing it up to 3200mhz it is technically out of spec for your CPU

System Memory Specification
Up to 2933MHz

See if you can set it in the BIOS to 2933 instead of 3200.

I've never had any luck with XMP personally so i always just leave my memory at stock speeds.

Probably the memory controller on the CPU.

SAMSUNG B-die is not the best for Ryzen, since it stresses the memory controller more,

I recommend a Micron Revision E die for Ryzen.

I have the same CPU,but a kit with top tier Micron Revision E die memory and not only that 3200MHz works - I can overclocked it as well, and it works no problems.

First gen Ryzen had tons of issues with RAM speed, 2nd gen not so much. I have a Ryzen 1600 that works fine @ 3000mhz, and a 2600 that runs 3200mhz RAM no problem. I'd check for a BIOS update as they can impact compatibility quite a bit, especially on a B450 chipset.

Your BIOS updates are located here. For a 2600, you don't want to update to anything newer than 3.40. Also keep in mind that they have specific requirements for updating. If your current BIOS is older than 1.80, you MUST update to that before jumping to 3.40

corsair vengeance however is rarely samsung b-die. i had this ram, was hynix,  xmp worked but only one profile not the other and overclocking manually was impossible, smallest change it would crash immediately.

now i got trident z, b-die, 3200, overclocked to 3600 and it seems to run fine.

Cool, let us know if that cures your issues.

Something else I'd like to add for completeness and for anyone else that might stumble upon this thread: BIOS updates should only be done on a stable system. So in this particular case, the flashing process should be completed with XMP disabled since that is the cause of your problems.
