thick grey lines on vhs

anybody know what these grey lines are

 

how they are caused, and why?  im trying to record my vhs and saw this

Blow off the ends of the cable and where it plugs into the VCR and the recorder.

about my issue,

 

it was only for the first 10 minutes, now its clear.

do u know why the lines are at the start only?

Huh, that is very strange.

Can you try recording again and see if anything changes, it could have been a slightly disconnected or out-of-position cable that reseated itself eventually.

hi i had to stop recording the vhs, i came back and i cant put it on anymore. why has it disappeared?

Is that OBS, just want to make sure. 

I'd try unplugging the adapter, closing OBS, plugging back in, and re adding it in OBS.

yeah OBS

 

tried that no use, changed usb ports as well 

all i did was, i wanted to stop recording and do it later. 

so after a while i wanted to record again, doesnt show the display.

Most likely a problem with that adapter, it could be broken

hi do you know whether i should use lossless quality. 

i dont mind the file size, 

 

but will it affect the vhs recording if i dont use 'same as stream'

It should be fine as lossless quality, I'd recommend doing a 2 minute recording of each preset and comparing them.
