Internal SSD vs External HHD

IrishSushi

It's prime day... and I'm left with two options I can get either the WD_BLACK 5TB or the SAMSUNG 870 QVO 4TB. WD is under $100 and the Samsung is over $300. Them being both SSD, would I recognize lag or down time for the WD drive compared to the Samsung? Is it hugely noticeable between the two?

If you don't mind me asking, what do you plan on doing with them? That's define what's a better deal for you.

If it's just a game drive, using a hard drive over an SSD is not a big deal. Especially 5TB being $100... quite a deal. The SSD will launch your games lots faster, and will be silent, but it's over triple the price.

I'm all solid state, but I'm not against a spinning platter just for mass storage.

Okay, for a storage device, an HDD would suffice, an SSD would bring advantages like slightly better load times, and more longevity, other than that, not much, but for games I think the HDD is a better option given the huge price difference.
