may I use third party USB 3.0 cable for external HDD?

My friends,

since the genuine cable is too short (1 feet) can I use third party new cable from link below for my MyBook drive,without issues of maybe damaging the drive:

Well it doesn't look like a 99 cent eBay special so I feel like a pretty safe answer would be yes, it should be fine.

it's the only one I could find in my city...they didn't have none until recently.

I don't want to move my ext HDD so I wnat to keep it at the table and just move cable as needed.

Though no matter if the cable is new it can be faulty.

I remember purchasing from them usb 3.0 extension cables,and they are crap,sometimes work sometimes don't.

The MyBook is a desktop drive with external power, right? If so then that cable should work perfectly fine.

Then it should be fine. I salvaged a 6.5 ft. USB 3 micro-B cable out of a Das Keyboard 4. It works perfectly with various external drives.

I used most Amazon Basic cables for my external drives, 1 to 2m length, for my various 2.5" WD/Seagate portable HDDs with no issue.

I barely could find this cable...it's f..ed country where such cables are hard to find...

They all had 1 feet length which sucks when you connect to laptop,HDD must hang or either placed onto the laptop.

Quick reminder:

Don't unplug this cable often,on most of the drives doing so often damages the connector on HDD,and you are screwed.
