Go to solution Solved by Somerandomtechyboi,

I think it performs pretty well for being a very cheap/free quad core but i think you are  better off getting a better cpu cooler than your current one and swapping that q6600 with a x/e5450, but it isnt neccesary to go with a x/e5450 unless you want to put a more powerful graphics card than the rx 460

Budget (including currency): 600 ZŁ - 156$

Country: Poland

Hello, i have done this PC buy picking up cheap local stuff, do you have any ideas for upgrading this pc?

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (2.4 GHz) [Looking for Cooler] - [Free]

GPU: Palit GeForce GTX 210 512MB - [Free]

PSU: OCZ Stream 550W 80+ - [10$]

MOBO: Gigabyte P35-DS3L - [Free]

RAM: 8GB (4x2GB) Kingston HyperX DDR2 800MHz - [Free]

Case: Tracer Cobra ATX - [Free]

I was looking for R9 280 3GB at my local CeX for 117$~

Will it be good for this setup?

On a board like that a q6600 will oc to 4ghz at voltages around 1.6-1.65v but thats enough to overwhelm all 2 heatpipe and most 4 heatpipecpu coolers, whereas a 45nm cpu like the xeon x/e5450 will reach 4.5ghz at 1.5~ volts so i think its best to keep your cpu at 3-3.2 ghz at stock volts or 1.35v or if you want to use the full potential of your board go with an x/e5450 and oc that to 3.6-3.8ghz at stock voltage (1.25v) or 4.5ghz at 1.5v~

A gt 210 is literal garbage and only used as a display adapter but you are already gonna upgrade it anyways, id suggest an rx 460 or rx 470 as a good gpu.

I dont suggest trying this unless you have a bios programmer with a clamp and decent soldering skills, but for better overclockability you may want to flash the p35-ds4 or p35-dq6 bios via afudos, im not sure if your boards backup bios (if it even has one) will save you if something goes wrong, only do this if you wanna overclock past 4ghz.

That ram is really good but it wont have any use unless you are overclocking above 500mhz (2000) fsb which you wont cause a q6600 will already need 1.6v~ to get to 4ghz anyways.

How good will Q6600 perform on 3.0GHz OC in your opinion?
