Ryzen 5 3600x with RTX 3060-Bottleneck? And good for gaming?

I’m getting a pre built pc (because of the shortage Of course), and wondering if the Ryzen 5 3600x is good for gaming in 2021 along with the rtx 3060, in which is obviously good for gaming (it’s a 3000 series of course!). I’ve been hearing that 8 cores now a days is the standard for gaming with the next gen consoles using them, but will may 6 core cpu be good enough for the games now a days, or should I just upgrade to a Ryzen 7 3700x?

3600x was and still is a good gaming CPU. Good speeds, and while 6 cores isn't ideal... it'll last quite a few more years.

6 is more the minimum standard for cores right now.  8 is better, may last a little longer, but you'll upgrade them both due to speed issues not cores.  You'll want a faster CPU in 3-5 years, not necessarily more cores.

What games are you looking at playing? List your top 3-5 so people can better advise you...

For reference...  I have a 1600AF (6 cores) paired with a 1650 Super and I get great FPS in CS:GO (180 at the absolute worst). I get good FPS in more demanding titles like COD, Battlefield etc but at lower quality settings.

No one really needs a 8 core cpu unless your gonna heavily edit footage of youtube videos or do really have blender or cad work (3d heavy workloads) that could be heavy on the cpu. I ddint go for the 3700x and went for the 3600 (non-x), because who needs a 3700x when the cost was 1.5 times the price of the 3600 here. (In norway atleast.)

Unless you really need the extra 2+ cores and 4+ threads, i wouldnt say its worth it.. Not yet atleast.

Useful threads: PSU Tier List | Motherboard Tier List | Graphics Card Cooling Tier List ❤️

Baby: MPG X570 GAMING PLUS | AMD Ryzen 9 5900x /w PBO | Corsair H150i Pro RGB | ASRock RX 7900 XTX Phantom Gaming OC (3020Mhz & 2650Memory) | Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 32GB DDR4 (4x8GB) 3600 MHz | Corsair RM1000x |  WD_BLACK SN850 | WD_BLACK SN750 | Samsung EVO 850 | Kingston A400 |  PNY CS900 | Lian Li O11 Dynamic White | Display(s): Samsung Oddesy G7, ASUS TUF GAMING VG27AQZ 27" & MSI G274F

I also drive a volvo as one does being norwegian haha, a volvo v70 d3 from 2016.

Reliability was a key thing and its my second car, working pretty well for its 6 years age xD

I’m mainly a console player and I’ve been wanting to try some pc games for quite some time. I’m looking to play Valorant, Doom Eternal, CS GO, maybe some league of legends and World of Warcraft, and I want to be able to play Fortnite and Overwatch as well for multiple gaming sessions at once (afk for exp, gotta keep up the grind lol)

I'd recommend the 5600x, 8700k, 10600k, etc.  If you're going 6 core, get something that you can push closer to 5GHz. The 3600x is good but there are better.

Honestly man, 3600X with a 3060 you're going to absolutely smash all of the games you mentioned. For a good few years.

If the same prebuild has a 10700f/10700/10700k option for similar price as the 3600x, get that. Its faster in everyway, even faster than a 3700x.

A 10400f might even be cheaper than the 3600x. I'd get which ever is cheapest of the 2, assuming the other specs match.

The 3600x will be perfect, great combo with a 3060. I wouldn't upgrade to a 3700x.
