Dead hard drive…

I have an old seagate drive that recently died. It has power, the platter spins and the arm moves. But I can’t detect it at all. Anybody have an idea on what I can do next? The arm is louder than I remember but I can’t be sure. I opened it up and saw all the moving parts move but I can’t figure out the issue…

At that point, you can put it on a shelf for display or recycle the drive...you opened the drive up to contamination. If the hard drive is dead, it's dead.

Yeah might as well trash that now. Your only option is to send it in for professional data recovery.

You might be able to send it to a data recovery service but otherwise you’re fucked
