Upgrading DT770 Pro (250 ohm) - gaming wise

K.Emil

Hello,

As the title says, I am considering upgrading my closed-back headphones, DT770 Pro (250 ohm), for gaming sessions . I will be using them for single-player and mild competitive FPS.

What I am looking for is:

  • Closed-back
  • Very good imaging with a decent soundstage

  • Fun signature, like a good bass response to feel the explosions and rumbles

  • Max budget 500$ (I can add an extra 100$ only if it will be worth it)

The AMP/DAC combo that I have is: Topping L30 + E30.

I am from Europe from a country that does not have access to Amazon, yet. Plus, I will not go for Drop, because I have warranty concerns.

Is there something that I can upgrade to or should I stay with the DT770?

I'd say stay with those. Unless you want to go for open backs which you have many options for. I don't know many good closed backs.

PM or DM me if you have any questions about audio.

There really aren't any closed back upgrades to the DT 770 gaming wise until you wanna spend a significant amount more money to get a noticable upgrade. You have one of the if not the widest sounding closed back under $500. I would honestly stick with what you have

Ok, thank you both.

One last question: Do you think the DT1770 would be a more than decent upgrade or not?

As for open-back headphones, I have the HD660s and will go for an AKG K712 (for more soundstage.

No the dt1770 suffers from pretty bad tonality that it's not really an upgrade.
