Manual focus get easier the more you use it?

Pro tip: if you really want to work with your camera for paid job avoid ordering essential gear from Amazon.  Look for a local professional equipment supplier who can quickly repair or replace any equipment immediately or has rental equipment when you truely need it on a job

its ok to buy small adapters and cables from Amazon but any essential equipment must be from a reliable supplier

By the way a samayang lens from amazon is 200$ cheaper than from the other shop. Somehow.

As someone who shoots exclusively manual on an EOS R with Nikon glass, manual focus never gets easier, you just get faster and more accurate at it. If you’re going to use manual focus it has to be your choice because it’s what you want to do to define how you shoot, not something you’re forced into or you’re never going to get to a level of skill that’s very usable with it. If you have AF available to you with what you have, you might as well use it. If not, then you’d best like manual focus.

But judging by your past posts, use an AF lens.

yeah, an ND filter and circular polarizer are way more important

Im a beginner and I dont know too much so you cant blame me, I should get a vnd instead of a polarizer or a pro mist because I will be dealing with t1.5.

so a ND filter darkens the image so in bright conditions you can have a slower shutter speed and wider aperture with a given ISO
polarizer helps cut glare and reflections

pro mist or other diffusion filters softens an image

Hi, do you get better at manual focus the more you practice? Does it become like your riding a bike.

Quick question to fill in the gaps of my curiousity.

I mean, you don't get worst at it by practicing. Just like how some people never manage to learn to ride a bike, it will depend on your skill level and where you want to get to. As a minimum with practice, you will remember which way to turn for close and far focus. If you limit yourself to one lens, I am also sure you will at some point get muscle memory for how much you need to turn to get approximately x M forward and back, for example. If you asked me whether one day you will be able to follow focus of a rapidly moving subject with shallow depth of field, I would say no.

I'm sure shooting with a manual only lens I will get some muscle memory in about 5-8 months.

I never did any automatic focusing on my DSLR, mostly because I am more of a film photography person, and all my lens gear is mostly manual. It gets easier with time, yes, especially on (D)SLR's but how the lens is made and how your camera's pentaprism is made, means a lot. If you are into Nikon, I can recommend you to buy the cheap Nikkor 28-80 f/3.3 lens and practice on it - this lens can focus in both AF and MF, and the MF ring is quite smooth, but, sadly, no metering for the range focusing. The most hardcore MF lenses are those with non-automatic aperture setup - you have to focus them wide open, then set the aperture after the focus, and it is hard to do, because you can accidentally move the focus ring - the worst example would be the Industar 50-2 m42 lens, but after some practice you will be able to focus them properly too.

So basically yes.
