Windows says my license will expire. I bought a new code and it wont accept it.

So windows said itll expire so I purchased a windows 10 home activation code and it didnt work. What do I do? The message "windows will expire" shows up whenever I turn on my pc.

Are you currently using Windows 10 Pro? Going from Windows 10 Pro to Home is not a straightforward process, and will likely require a reinstall.

How was your key purchased?

If it was a cheap key from a reseller, it may only be able to be used during a fresh install and trying to use it in a already installed instance may result it in becoming blacklisted.

 

Otherwise, is the key you purchased for the same edition of Windows you are already using?

So your previous key was either from grey markets or from school/work, thats why it expires (needs to connect to original network for activation). How did you buy the new one? Besides the fact that you can't activate Pro version with Home, you might have just been scammed.
