You can but you probably won't see much of any performance difference

I have a r9 3900 and a 2080super but in task manager 3d is always pinned at 100% when I'm gaming I also have two 1440p monitors which gets me two the point can I toss a 1050 or something in another pci slot to power the second screen I only need it for chat / YouTube ect no real intensive stuff but I just want to try and reclaim some of the lost performance on the 2080 I've never tried this and I couldn't find any information on the idea. Im not talking about crossfire or sli I just want them to work on completely separate tasks  .. is this possible? .. is my best bet just tossing it in yolo ..see what happens

It's possible, but it's not without hiccups. Last time I tried an AMD + Nvidia setup some programs (like Premiere and especially Sony Vegas) told me to pack sand, and then others had problems with stuttering, and tech jesus have mercy on your soul if you tried moving a game from one monitor to another.

personally wouldn't deal with the headache of it, but you could always give it a rip yourself to see if it works for you or not.

A second monitor isn't rendering in 3D so a second card won't exactly improve performance.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

A second screen has negligible impact on your graphic card's performance. Can you use a second card for a second screen? Sure. But it's pretty pointless to do so. Your card running at 100% 3d usage is a good thing, that means it's working.

OP is / would be using only Nvidia cards.

Right. I can totally read. Probably.

But cayou read this?

For OP, it makes no difference with my testing. I run 2 GPUs (they're the same, but that doesn't make a difference afaik) and I tested running one monitor on each and both monitors off of one, leaving the other headless. I saw no performance difference whatsoever - still 15 FPS on Relics of the Past.

I have 2 GTX 650 Ti BOOSTs. Upgrading to a GTX 690 once all my packages come.
