Does having multiple user sessions on your computer lower your performance?

7412

Hello. A very stupid question on this tech-savvy temple, I apologize. I do wonder though.

If I create a new user session for, say, my wife of my children - will I notice a performance drop in my own session? In my head it's like a whole new world of things that the computer has to "remember" and work on in the background somehow. Maybe it's not though, I don't know. That's why I'm asking.

Thanks in advance for making me less stupid.

At the same time? Yeah.

Just a diffrent user and will never be used at the same time? No.... It's just storing that info on the drive

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

If the data gets stored on the RAM (Which I am guessing it does) Then yes, by a little, but if it gets stored on the drive, then no.

😳
Not that active so I may not respond.

As long as they Log Out of their session and not simply "change user" by locking their session, it will not.

If they don't log out, their session will stay loaded in memory.

No. Most sessions will eventually turn over onto a hard drive. The degradation would be minimal unless you're switching back and forth constantly.

Depends. If there are active processes that do not "power down" when using the session goes idle, then you will see that.
