Nothing wrong with wireless for gaming now latency-wise. People who slag wireless gaming peripherals are living in two thousand and late. Biggest drawback of wireless mice remains weight, but depending on the types of games you play and your preferences that may not be an issue.

I recently got a new thin and light for work, but it only has type-c ports. I'm hoping to avoid a dongle or bluetooth for light gaming on the go. Anyone know of a decent mouse with a type-c connector?

No, but it's a problem easily solved by either getting a USB-C male to Micro USB male cable, if it's a wireless mouse with a plugin option, or just a USB-A female to USB-C male cable if it's a wired mouse. You can also just get a USB-C hub, which will have Type A ports.

Unless you're going cheap, there's really no reason to avoid wireless for gaming.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.
