I would install the latest driver first

Hi, I'm just curious why for some motherboard drivers the previous versions for those drivers, hve such varying file sizes. Such as the LAN and Audio drivers. The previous versions are either considerably less or more in terms of file size. Why is that? Would it be correct to assume it was because of newer drivers the packed more stuff into smaller sizes? Would installing just the latest ones be the ful package or do you need to install the previous versions first?
