planning a retro budget build

Country: U.S.A.

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: quake , half-life , doom original

Other details: intel core 2 quad q8300 , lga 775 hp motherboard , 2x4 ddr3 100mhz , Nvidia Riva TNT2 , modern 750w psu  , nzxt h510 case with a retro yellow plastic vinyl wrap.

 

what do yall think about this w.i.p. build?

That of all things you are getting a bad airflow case case and a gpu that doesnt work on a board that doesnt have a agp slot. Also why the 750w psu? This system might pull like 200w at best?

Dont use an hp mobo go for an asus mobo or sumthing better and i´ll recommend a geforce 9800 gt  go for a 500 watt psu not 750

the mobo that i wanna use does have two x16 slots

Ok and? That doesn't allow you to use a nvidia tnt 2 card. It needs a agp slot.

i can find a board that works with my core 2 that ill buy , ill also buy a gt 710 , it doesnt need to be fully retro.

Do not get a 710 it is just a bad card even for retro game. Since you are splurging on a psu anyways there is no reason you cant get a MUCH cheaper card than a 710 that is alos heaps better. Things like hd 5870's go for 30$ and destroy a 710.
