3900x doesent boost over 4.25ghz

HASHBROWN

im running:

3900x

asus x570 plus

32gb 3200mhz corsair

240mm aio corsair

gtx 970 sc 

corsair 850w modular psu

m.2 ssd gen 3 x2

 

so i dont know why but i never see boosts over 4.2 when its advertised as 4.6 single thread and i have no idea what to do im on latest bios windows 10 pro latest drivers are up to date for chipset bios settings ive messed with pbo and docp is on

Try disabling PBO. That was the only way I could get my 3700X to the advertised 4.4GHz single core. I dont remember the exact settings I used, but I undelvolted it a little bit with a negative offset.

The Zen 2 boost clock was mostly just a theoretical maximum. Zen 3 is better in that regard an my current 5800X easily boost to the advertised 4.8 out of box, and to 5GHz single core with PBO and some curve optimizing.
