USB 2 or 3 for peripherals, does it matter?

FRD

I'm wondering this for quite some time, which is why I make this topic.

Does it matter if we connect our peripherals to either USB 2 or USB 3?
Of course it does make sense if the product has a blue USB 3 connection. But for example my Corsair keyboard has its own colour (grey) and I'm assuming they use USB 2 for it.

Right now I'm actually thinking of using a USB 2.0 hub for peripherals and hardware that's older, so I can save my USB 3 connectors that are left for future devices that need it.

By the way, during typing this topic I suddenly locked my laptop keyboard, which never happened before. Must have been Filterkeys.

nope. theres no way they you would have a keyboard or mouse use more than a usb 1, or oven a split usb 1 conection

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

Thanks, so it doesn't matter for anything from power draw up until latency. It makes sense, since they don't need to transfer data anyway.

Another question. Does it make sense to use a USB 2 hub on my USB 3 port of my monitor to connect more things than just my peripherals?

you could, but id just use a separate hub for that, lessens the cable mess. just use that for your mouse.

though dont think that the kb/m dont transfer data. some mice with high polling rates go super high with their speed/s

Thanks. True about the cable mess. I was actually thinking about buying one of those small hubs that directly plug into the USB port, intended for laptops normally.

Didn't know that about mice. My mouse is a few years old, so it's probably not that crazy in terms of specs.

its not most mice, but there are like 8000hz mice, most top out at like 1000hz iirc

If it's any help, my G502 goes up to 1000 polling rate, and 12,000 DPI. I have it set to 1000 polling and in normal use around 6,000 DPI.

Please quote my post, or put @paddy-stone if you want me to respond to you.
