Display goes off when I try to play AAA titles

NerdyAiyaz

Hey guys, as I try to play games like Warzone, Apex, FH4, as soon as I reach above 70°c, my display turns off and the GPU fans ramp up, I haven't seen this issue on my other GPUs, as this issue is only seen in my MSI GTX 1650 Ventus XS OC. NEED HELP!!

This can be due to a lot of things, but certainly is not temperature-related. Graphics cards are completely fine running at 70C. Generally up to 85-90C is considered to be alright. If the card was overheating it would throttle, rather than cut-off picture to the display.

For me this seems to be caused by something else. If I had to guess, I would say, either a power issue, caused by a bad quality or failing power supply, which manifests only when the card is under heavy load (playing AAA games) or a graphics card fault. If the power supply is able to provide enough power, but there is something wrong with the card itself this could also cause the issue you are describing.

Still, the information provided is very scarce so we will need some more info. Is this a newly occurring issue? Meaning, has the system worked fine before and is only recently started to cause problems? If yes, have you changed anything? What are the full specs of the rig? Have you tried troubleshooting the issue in any way, like reinstalling the graphics drivers?

I wouldn't say that that power supply is overkill. Maybe in terms of wattage you have some headroom, however, it terms of quality the Corsair VS550 is quite an entry level unit and doesn't really have that good of a reputation.  While Corsair does have great quality power supplies, this is not one of them. Therefore, it may very well be the cause of your unexpected black screens while gaming.

Regarding your other issue with the computer not being able to shut down, I don't believe that it is related to your other problem. A computer not being able to shut down, or shuts down and restarting itself directly afterwards is usually associated with memory instability. I recommend running HCI Memtest to at least 400% and Linpack Xtreme for about 45min in order to evaluate if you RAM is running without causing any errors.
