Hello all i am extremely new to the forums. I had been on steam a long time until tonight. One false report was all it took to wreck it all for me. i am now permabanned and the support dude wanted me to pay money that would supposedly be sent immediately. I tried and he said i had to pay more which i couldnt and i am now banned permanently. i am out a crapload of games and filled with sadness. what do i do?

You've been scammed. Steam support will never ask you for money to be unbanned.

Pay to get unbanned? It's either a scam or company with no morals to speak of. This isnt what Steam allows.

If you got the message by email, check the sender's email address. Most likely something obviously wrong

Steam wont permaban you on false reports, nor will it ask for money. Youve been scammed and you should learn from this experince, dont give log in details and such to random people no matter what they ask or promise to give. Go the bank or wherever you paid and cancel that payment.

Steam support used to be completely separated site from main. Meaning that support will never contact you via email or in-client messages. If you are banned from Steam, you would probably receive email telling that and you couldn't log in to client. Just one of those can't alone be trusted as emails are easy to fake, and malware can cause issues with Steam login (or possibly fake the client).

Also asking for money to be unbanned is not how things go. Otherwise everyone could get back in. In fact, you can already go around most bans by simply creating new account (which obviously isn't allowed and can receive insta-ban as result). If there would be payment, then info about it would be already somewhere on Steam's sites, or otherwise easily located in the internet.

So, obvious scam and if you paid, chargeback that payment.

Did you do a chargeback on a purchase you made? That's a popular way to get banned, and (re)payment could plausibly be offered as a resolution.

If that was the case, then we should check if OP has emails or support convo about it. Still, odd to see such from established company. Chargeback is already something where bank is involved, and resolving such would include bank/CC company in the mix too. Plus, OP claims that they paid and it wasn't "enough". Such is straight on BS. If Valve would have policy to allow re-pay for wrong chargeback, the amount would be fixed to the original sum or original+handling costs. Which would be stated clearly. Asking more is pure bs and makes this more scam than anything else.
