$1498 for an AX1200i! What a deal!

Also, a little PSA....

There are third party sellers based in China and Hong Kong that are selling Corsair, and other, PSUs and shipping them from China.  They are selling them as NEW PSUs!  But they're NOT!  They're returns from Chinese customers!

Don't take a chance.  Don't buy these.  I just saw three in a row that were customer returns that were then repacked and sold as new through Newegg's marketplace (sure the same is true at Amazon).  In some regions, it costs so much to ship product back that the distributors are told they'll just get a credit and to destroy the returns.  Instead of destroying the product, some guy just loads it up in the back of their car and sells it on the Internet.  These PSUs are second hand and don't have a warranty.  And these fly by night sellers are NOT going to give you a refund.

This isn't a "new" or even "China" issue.  I used to work for a place called "Danmart".  We would buy customer returns from Best Buy, Circuit City, CompUSA, etc. at auction, test it, and then turn around and sell it on eBay.  It's shady A.F.  Even when I worked at Montgomery Wards, if we had Compaq, HP, eMachines, etc. returns, they would say, "throw the returns in the crusher and send us a picture".  The manager would just throw keyboards and mice in there, send the picture, then the towers were scrapped for parts.

Yeah.  At least some of those are listed as "like new", but those prices!

What sucks are people are buying these, expecting to swap them out with Corsair, and then being told to pound sand because they're used (and in most cases out of warranty) and then they're mad at Corsair for not "honoring warranty".

We just had one guy buy an AX1200i made in 2012 just a month ago.  It was dead and now he's mad at Corsair for not swapping it out.  🤷‍♂️

Crushing potentially working hardware sounds wasteful AF. It'd be nice if there were a more official means of buying, perhaps discounted, warranty-less hardware. As long as it was entirely transparent.

Do this, but be fully transparent and officially sanctioned, so it isn't so shady idk.

It's just sounds like such a waste...

I know.  But on the flip side, if you consider the cost of shipping, packaging materials, labor, etc.. that's a waste too.

It's like the old EV argument.  You either use a car that uses fossil fuel, or you use a car that uses environmentally unfriendly batteries charged by fossil fuel.

Or another example:  Paper or plastic.  Clear cut forests or have a bag sit in a landfill for centuries?

Yeah that's a fair point.

Totally agree

Cutting trees isn't bad for the environment as long as your replant.

Actually, when done right, it's very good to do that (cut and replant), because the carbon of the finished product (paper here) does not immediately end up in the atmosphere, while the baby tree that was planted will grow quickly and store enormous amounts of carbon.
(When a tree is fully grown, it does not store more carbon than it releases).

Them being in China and HK protects them from any legal actions?
Can't you block them off newegg etc. ?

Uh, this is false. Growing to maturity takes time, and cutting trees irreversibly affects the ecosystem and growth medium.

China:  The wild, wild East.  No.  There's no legal action that can be taken.

Newegg can block them if it's reported to them.  Hopefully, that's being done.
