Newegg Shuffle blew my Budget! Help me Finalize my first build

Budget (including currency): It was $1500-$2000, but it's blown now! Realistically, more like $2300 now

Country: USA

Other details

So, I got some suggestions from this forum before (thank you!) and felt confident enough to start hunting for a graphics card. Low and behold I ended up getting one through the Newegg Shuffle, and now I need help finalizing the rest of my build, especially because the card I got is quite a bit beefier than I planned on, I'm not sure what all of the features of the motherboard that came with it mean, and my budget is totally blown. I'd appreciate general advice, but my specific questions are:

1) I'm deciding between two cases: the Fractal Design Meshify C and the be quiet! Pure Base 500DX. I like the be quiet! case more, but when I select it on PC Parts Picker it gives me the following error:

be quiet! Pure Base 500DX ATX Mid Tower Case has a front panel USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C port, but the Gigabyte B550 AORUS PRO AC ATX AM4 Motherboard does not have sufficient USB 3.2 Gen 2 or Gen 1 headers. The case USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C port will not be usable. I would hate to have an unused port in my front I/O, so is there anything I can do about this, or should I just buy the case I like less?

2) Is the 650 W power supply sufficient for this build? Is it overkill? My budget is blown so I don't want to waste money, but when Newegg's calculator tells me that a 450 W supply will work, I get very suspicious.

3) Is there anywhere left where I can save a little money without majorly losing functionality? Or any improvements I could make for roughly the same money? I'll spend what I have to, but I would like to wrestle the budget back a little bit.

My parts list is below, BOLDED items are what I have already purchased:

Component Selection List Price OR Price paid
CPU AMD Ryzen 7 5800x (edited for clarity) $422.78
GPU Gigabyte Radeon RX 6700 XT Eagle 12G (edited for clarity) $968.65
Motherboard Gigabyte B550 AORUS PRO AC ATX AM4 Motherboard $231.29
RAM
Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory
$202.56
Memory Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive $159.90
CPU Cooler Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black 55 CFM CPU Cooler $79.95
Case be quiet! Pure Base 500DX ATX Mid Tower Case OR Fractal Design Meshify C     $99.90 OR $98.00
Power
EVGA SuperNOVA GA 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
$89.99

Current total:                                                                                                      ~$2255

Thanks!

Even if it's the higher powered 5800x, you should be good with 650w unit.

Thanks for catching that, I'll edit the post. Yes, I have the 5800x

You kinda set yourself up here. You already bought the wrong parts to begin with, now it's going to be needlessly expensive and not even that well performing by comparison.

Yeah, I know 😅. I got good advice from the forum earlier, but when I won the shuffle for a different card I kind of felt like I had to take it. For my edification, could you tell me where the problems are with it right now (specifically among the board/CPU/GPU, the parts I already bought)? Is there anything I can do with the remaining choices to edge towards better performance, versus what I've selected?

5800X - Perfectly acceptable at this pricepoint

6700 XT - Performs worse than a 3070, was purchased for more than the price of a 3080 ($699 starting price)

B550 AORUS PRO AC - Not necessarily a bad board, just a weird choice. A B550 GAMING PLUS would've made more sense being that it's cheaper and similarly spec'd.

Vengeance Pro RGB - 32GB of RAM is not necessary, plus with a CL18 CAS Latency, you're missing out on performance. Ryzen scales better with lower latency memory (CL16 or better).

Thanks for the breakdown. I think 32 GB RAM will be really useful for the productivity software I need to use this with, but thanks for educating me on latency, etc. The board came with the graphics card in the shuffle, so I definitely wouldn't have bought it if I had the choice!

Also, I don't know enough about graphics cards to know how many of the numbers and letters are important, but I added a link to the one I got in the original post, just in case I left something out.

If you aren't sick of chatting with me, is there a way I can use the front USB-C port in the case I prefer off of a motherboard that seems not to have front USB-C I/O?

Simply put, the NVDIA RTX 3080 is about 25% faster than a 6700XT. The RTX 3080 also costs $300 less than what you paid for the 6700XT.

Your motherboard has a USB-C header located here on the rear I/O:

Capture.PNG.e6cb5e304d83ae534b3eceb8dab5a73e.PNG

And no, a motherboards I/O does not correspond with the case.

The motherboard connects to the front panel USB ports using this connector here:

Capture.PNG.a3db0a2cb3ff8e5ef34f34bab477e2ed.PNG

The "Type-C" standard only refers to that oval shaped connector, it's still just regular USB.

If the case you choose has a USB-C port, it would connect (just like the rest) through here.

Although, this isn't entirely necessary to look for in a case because:

1. Your motherboards rear I/O already has a USB Type-C port

2. You can very easily find USB Type-A to USB Type-C adapters online

I guess I'll keep entering the shuffle and if I get lucky twice I'll return this one. But otherwise, living and learning.

It's good to know that I can use an adapted to go from USB-A to USB-C internally. The case I want is this: https://www.newegg.com/arctic-white-be-quiet-pure-base-atx-micro-atx-mid-tower/p/2AM-0037-00072?Description=be quiet&cm_re=be_quiet-_-9SIA68VB0W1760-_-Product&quicklink=true and it has a front USB-C but pcpartspicker gave me a warning that the motherboard didn't have front USB-C capability.

For the parts I have yet to buy (memory, CPU cooling, etc) am I getting good bang-for-buck with the above?

Not necessarily, here's what I'd recommend:

Storage: Western Digital Blue SN550 1 TB **Is $30 cheaper than the SAMSUNG

CPU Cooler: ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 280 **A traditional single-tower cooler like the Noctua is not enough

PSU: Corsair RMx (2018) 650 W 80+ Gold **Entry-level EVGA PSU's are known to get loud

Case: Phanteks Eclipse P400A Digital **The bequiet! case doesn't have mounting places for a 280mm AIO at the top
