Recommendation of motherboard and processor for new configuration

Budget (including currency): $250-300 (for MBO+CPU)

Country: Croatia (Europe)

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Work (Office), photo processing (Photoshop, AI) and web design

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): No peripherals are needed,

Hello, guys.

After more than 7 years I finally decided to change my computer and I would need help with the new configuration (only MBO+CPU is needed).

From other parts I already have:
- Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury, DDR4, 3200 Mhz, 2x8GB
- SSD: Kingston SSD 500GB, A2000, M.2 2280
- Power supply: Silverstone, Strider Essential ET550-B, 550W
- Graphics card: MSI N730K-2GD3H
- PC case: Zalman T5

I look at the six-core processors and am hesitant between the Ryzen 5 1600AF and the Intel i5-10400f. In my state, the price difference is $ 20 between these two processors.

Thank you!

The 10400f is significantly better. The 1660AF performs identically to the R5 2600, while with a B560 board and 3200MHZ RAM, the 10400f is slightly faster than the R5 3600.

10400f is better

That's what I thought the i5-10400f was better but unfortunately I'm limited by the budget around the motherboard so I can't go for the B560 board.
Can you recommend some good motherboard up to $100? I know that Ryzen 5 1600AF has an advantage here because it uses a full 3200mhz, and Intel only 2666mhz. I also look to be a long-term upgrade.

On b560, Intel can go over 2666mhz due to memory OC.

I know, but unfortunately the budget does not allow me such a motherboard. So I have to go for those that support up to 2666mhz.

Recommendations or to go for Ryzen 5 1600af with motherboard that supports 3200mhz?

In many applications that I am aware of (i could be wrong), memory speed has very little effect on FPS, but faster cores do. I still stand by my decision of 10400f.
