TV or Xbox freaks out if I try to set it to 1080p

I'm not sure if it's my xbox series s or my Samsung TV, but if I try to set it to run at 1080p so I can then run it at higher framerates for games like siege, the TV freaks out and a bunch of vertical bars pop up, I'll post a pic when I get home
