Has anyone cleared their pc with steam cleaner?

I wanna know if anyone cleared their pc with one of those steam cleaners.

bad idea... Steam is water in a gas form. Once it cools it condenses and forms back into water... bad idea.

I recommend an electric air duster, and use something to stop fans from spinning too fast.

Not unless you're trying to remove dried up gum on the case... Other than that, I can't imagine why you would need to use one. Is your PC growing mould or something?

Using a steam cleaner WILL inject moisture into components that will remain after all the rest is dry.
Once you apply power to it, guess what?

Never use anything that forces/blows water or even air (Air Compressor) to clean or dry stuff with. Compressed air also has moisture in it and it can inject moisture in the same way to the same effect.
However I have and still use a dishwasher to clean my boards between XOC setups to get the excess dielectric out of the socket area.
That works because it's not literally blasting the board with the force of a steam cleaner or compressor. I use a hot water wash and rinse cycle with a regular dishwashing pod and it does the job rather well.

I then preheat my oven to it's lowest temp setting, for mine that's 170f / 84c so the components aren't being heated past their thermal tolerance - That is very important!
If you can't set temps for the oven below what would be about 90c or lower like mine can, do the alternate drying method I've posted below because some componets are only rated for about 90c and no more.

In fact if your oven can't be set like mine I'd suggest the other drying method to be safe about it.

Anyway, I let it sit in for about 90 minutes after it's reached temp and once done I'll simply cutoff the oven and let it cool while the board is still inside, providing the extra drying time without additional power being used.

After that I remove it, let it reach room temp and set it up - Ready to go.

The other drying method mentioned above:
Optionally, instead of oven drying you can set a fan on it with the board tilted so water can run off and out of it, making sure the entire board has air flowing over it.
Usually you can get it dry in a day but sometimes I'll let it go for an extra day to be sure, but make sure you let it sit and dry for at least a full day / 24 hrs.

Why would you need to use it? If your issue is thick dust, you could use lightly damp microfiber cloth. Just beware of any circuit and such. Bot for fans, case, PSU shroud and stuff like that its fine.

You can use your fingers or tape, preferably painters tape. And I agree on the electrical duster. I use a ED500. Best buy, ever! If you got dirt stuck to parts, PCB's etc. then use isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth. Just let it dry before turning the pc on. Make sure just to use a small amout of alcohol on the cloth.

Theoretically you can use a steam cleaner, but you'd have to properly let your PC dry afterwards. All in all it's a bad idea and there are plenty of other ways to clean your PC without the risk of destroying it in the process.

For god sake though, Don't use a Steam Cleaner it actually can Damage the Hardware, Instead if you want to clean your pc use a Standard method, Just as simple as Rebuilding you Computer and Cleaning it with a compressed air can, or a Vacuum cleaner should do the Trick there
