I CAN'T CHANGE LAPTOP FANS! HELP!

oofboi44

sooo....  I got a lenovo xiaoxing pro 13 and I tried to change the fann speeds to manual. it's not that it's overheating a lot, but the problem is that sometimes, the auto fan speed can be a bit stupid, and the fan speed never seems to  above around 60 - 70% unless in "extreme performance mode" a setting turned on in the bios. I tried many different solutions, like speedfan or argus monitor, but in each one, either the setting would not take place, or the change fan speed setting was greyed out. also, nothing can physically detect the fans. and even if they do, it shows up as 0 rpm and i know that it is clearly spinning. it is probably a "programmable" fan, as the speeds change according to temp, but as i said, sometimes it can be very stupid. is there a solution that someone can provide? thanks so much!

You didn't say why.

Your fan probably doesn't send an rpm signal back.

The motherboard simply adjusts DC voltage (or maybe PWM) to drive the fan according to temps.

It makes sense that lenovo doesn't allow you to mess with it.

Your headline is wrong

I'm willing to swim against the current.
