What's a tech term you hate?

I figured it was some sort of autocorrect weirdness. Usually I can decode them from context but that one eluded me. I didn’t know epic would do 4 tb.  That’s a whole lot of money in Dimms.

It’s 4 channel, I believe 4 dimms per (may only be 2)

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

It is overused.  It seems to mostly mean “same or worse stuff but with louder colors and perhaps some RGB at much higher prices”. This can get kind of extreme.  Those gaming socks were absurd

mAh - A highly manipulative and misleading measurement unit for batteries that is heavily used in marketing.

Since it's heavily depended on voltage, you can easily manipulate the numbers.

You can have the same battery be both 3600 mAh,5454 mAh  and 18000 mAh .

Why? - Because different voltage  = different mAh:

At 5V = 3600 mAh,at 3.3V = 5454 mAh,and at 1V = 18000 mAh.

So mAh doesn't really mean anything if you don't state the voltage it was measured at.

A much better unit is Wh (Watt hour),it's consistent across all voltages used with the battery since watt hour is the amount of energy you can store in a battery, while mAh is the amount of discharge at a given voltage.

With Wh you can't manipulate voltages and other variables like you can do with mAh.

A lot of laptop battery manufacturers prefer to use the Wh unit and not mAh.

This isn't exactly tech related but I hate people who misspell "esports." The amount of E-Sports, e-Sports, e-sports, eSports, and e Sports I see is ridiculous. It's a normal word. No need to add weird capitalization or hyphens to it. Realistically, it should really just be called "sports" in the first place. Esports is only used because people seem to think that for something to be a sport it has to involve intensive physical activity. I consider sports to just be a competitive activity that requires skill and practice.

The problem I see is “esports” looks like a word in some Romance language though like “policia”.

Maybe the 4k, 4,5k, 6k, 2k, etc.
Then SATA
You know that means number 100 in finnish language.
Then there is the "military grade component"
Those are just a marketing term, which really doesn´t mean anything.
Maybe also calling the removal of the PSU for phones, to be called better for the environment. If you have to buy it seperatly, you are going to use a lot more space and packaging, compared to including it in the box. This is just crazy. However, if you have a compatible unit, sure. Then it might save a little bit of environnement.

By the way, my desktop is a docked laptop. Get over it, No seriously, I have an exterrnal monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, ethernet and cooling fans all connected. Using it feels no different to a desktop, it works for several hours if the power goes out, and disconnecting just a few cables gives me something I can take on the go. There's enough power for all games I play and it even copes with basic (and some not-so-basic) video editing. Give it a go - you might just love it.

"Your good at computers can you fix my (PS4),(iPhone), (insert any other tech you can think of) etc.."

Even got asked if I could fix a car ECU.

Fun bit of trivial for you:

In the UK the computers that control car engines are often referred to as engine management units (EMUs).

EMU also stands for Electric Multiple Unit, which is a type of train.

As someone with a passing interest in cars, and a major interest in trains, I have had conversations where I've assumed someone means one but actually they mean the other.

Ok, so future proof means that it's something that will not become obsolete.

AMD released Zen2 but was already in the manufacturing process of Zen 3.

So your chip was essentially obsolete at purchase time. You future proofed nothing.

i mean nothing will ever not become obsolete. everything will be surpassed one way or another.

Haven’t seen this one much myself. I could see how it could be annoying though.

I see it in plenty of public spaces that offer both wifi or internet via a wall mounted ethernet jack. I have seen photos of libraries with a sign under an wall-mounted ethernet jack saying "Free Internet, bring you own Wi-Fi cable"

well, everything... that should be set automatically to work as good as possible or whatever, way too many numbers basically (and then you have no guarantee for it to work properly)

yeah, usually followed by "i have seen it on youtube".

What i really hate about it, it usually leads to nothing , you can explain a million times "not every system is the same" ... "no ive seen it on youtube, exactly the same" (and usually it isnt exactly the same of course lol)
