Xbox series s refuses to run 1440p at 120hz

I don't know why this is happening, but my xbox series s that I just got today, absolutely refuses to run 1440p at 120hz on my lg 34GK950F-B 34" 21:9 monitor, despite the fact that hdmi 2.0 can do this and that this is a 120hz 1440p monitor.

Little question, are you using an display port connection?

No, the series s doesn't have one.

Is there some sort of refresh rate or related setting on the monitor itself? I would check for that sort of thing. If you have another HDMI cable by chance it also wouldn't hurt to try swapping them.
