Game Streaming GTX 970 or Quadro P4000

Hi all, hope you are well.

 

I need a bit of advice, I am about to start streaming on twitch and I have the following spec PC:

AMD Ryzen 5 1600

16GB RAM

GTX 970

 

I also have a Quadro P4000 that I use for video editing in another PC. Would I be better using the p4000 for the game/stream PC or stick to the GTX?

 

I am using Streamlabs for the stream.

your best bet is to stream off the NVENC encoder in the GTX 960.

I suggest you to give it a go with your system as is and see where your bottleneck is.

Nvenc on the 970 should be a good experience. The p4000 is pretty much a gtx 980 so it might be a bit better. HOWEVER it does run quadro drivers so that might hamper the extra ram performance.

That isn't really right....

the p4000 is on the Pascal architecture; its a GP104, while the 980 and 970 are Maxwell GM204.

so the NVEC on the Quadro should be better, and the drivers really don't matter in games, so in theory the p4000 is the faster card.

BUT.... the big asterisk is that the single slot card might be getting hot and throttling all the time.

Sorry should have been more clear here. I mean as in terms of performance in games on average. Drivers usually don't matter but it can make a pretty darn big difference in games that just came out.
