Should i install Manufacturer drivers or stick with MS windows updated drivers for AHCI , ATK and MEI ?

Did a fresh install on windows 10 20h2 with new  sata m.2 ssd on my GL502VT DS71 Asus Laptop.

Windows updated my drivers . But still some ATK functions like Keyboard functions , AHCI drivers aren't updated . Should i install those drivers from asus website or should i just keep it as it is.

Install the drivers for the graphics card using the latest version from AMD/Nvidia's website, but for everything else just let Windows do its thing and it will work most of the time.

Leave it as is, the ASUS ones are just regurgitated Windows driver files anyway.

it's a matter of preference, really.

 

for stuff like your GPU, there's often a 'measurable' difference in performance, especially for newer hardware.

for laptops with fn key keyboards and 'special' trackpads, it's often best to get the manufacturer's drivers, because it's not uncommon for those to just straight up not exist trough windows update.

but for stuff like usb controllers, audio, etc... usually its not worth the hassle to do the manufacturer drivers.

yes you are right. But what about AHCI and MEI drivers should i install Asus ones or stick with MS ?

When in doubt, OEM drivers.

If Windows isn't automatically installing them (or there's a more recent version on the manufacturers website) then download the Asus drivers.

windows installed MS Generic AHCI Controller from 2006 drivers . So that's pretty old. My Asus Laptop driver page has AHCI driver is from 2015. Really confused should i update to that or not

And 16:9 resolutions working, higher than 60hz, tearing not happening (I've had this happen less with drivers and no vsync), and movement being less stuttery.

Yes, install the newest drivers available. The ONLY reason to not do that is if newer drivers cause known issues. But in your case, I'm betting that is a non-issue.
