Does a TV screen cause GPUs to overheat ?

Yaxir

So i don't have a monitor available right now, what i can do is plug up my PC to a TV available at my dormitory room

I have attached a screenshot of the Display properties to this post, please take a look at it

What i noticed was that while playing FIFA 17, everything worked fine

Except, when i closed the game .. i saw that the IoBit Performance monitor showed the GPU at 70 degrees celsius ! ofc it cooled down later on but i was badly concered about this ..

FIFA NEVER exceeds more than 60 degrees of usage when i played it on a monitor. So i am really worried about this

is the TV taxing my GPU ? is there some risk involved ? is there possibility of electronic / electrical damage ?

i am a student with limited money resources at the moment and living in a dormitory in a foreign country

i cannot afford a laptop and have to rely on this PC to do my work ( especially since all the education is online right now ! )

Please advise

P.S : the GPU is connected to the TV screen using a HDMI cable. Last i checked, the GPU end of the HDMI cable got a bit hot, though i don't know why. This has never happened before, when i used a monitor. I checked again now and it has cooled down i think ..

No. The size of what you play it on has nothing to do with the GPU, only the resolution would matter (if it was higher, more taxing on the GPU).

70c really isn't that hot for a GPU. It's nothing to be worried about.

If the monitor and TV resolution are the same, there should be no difference in GPU temp all else being equal. And nothing generally about using a TV over HDMI is dangerous to your pc.

Consider the situation when you're playing games on the TV. Is your PC tower on the floor, maybe on carpet? Is it sitting on, or next to, or in front of something that is blocking airflow or transferring heat to your PC that normally doesn't happen?

Now that you mention it, there is something interesting

The Windows settings tell me that 1366 x 768 is the recommended resolution for this Display (the TV screen)

BUT when FIFA 17 starts, it 'forces' the monitor to go 1920x1080 @ 60hz

Maybe the changed resolution is causing this ?

I am no expert on panels but from what the settings tell me, the TV has a WXGA panel that has a native resolution of 1366 x 768

When FIFA launches, it changes the resolution and that might be making some difference

This is just my speculation, maybe you know better about this topic

Please take a look at what i wrote in Reply to mr. @dizmoand let me know if that is any relevant

Also, the only change is that i changed the case. I previously had a very old case which i changed for a Zalman N3 case

Maybe it's acrylic side window is causing the Temps to rise but i don't know. Otherwise airflow should improve because i now have 3 fans instead of 1.

And i am thinking of adding a top fan as well, just to let more air out

Let me know if anything useful comes to mind

Thanks
