Headphones sound shit in receiver

I bought a 3.5mm to 6.3mm and a 3.5mm male to female extender and the audio sounds so shit when plugged in no bass or anything it's just plain

I would check to make sure all poles of each cable/adapter are fully conducting. If the ground gets broken and L/R end up connected to each other, you can sometimes still hear faint and tin-y audio.

If you have a multimeter with continuity checking, that would be the best tool. Plug a M/M 3.5mm cable into each and continuity test each part of the TR(R)S connectors at each end (each matching part should conduct).

 

Otherwise, check the extension cable with a known good device, and check the adapter direct to headphones without the extension. Rule parts out one at a time.

Okay so I tried the headphones with just the adapter and it still sounds like bad / not clear

This only happened to me when using a 4-pin Jack in a 3-pin only output (also through 6.3 mm conversion). You should try to split it to stereo and mic, and use only the stereo head of that cable, if this is the case.
