Good luck getting the GPU for that price.

Consider a Asus Strix/Tuf b550 or x570 and a 5800x

Big nerd.

The 10900k does not even support the pcie 4 specification of the ssd

Also, get this monitor instead of the one you chose originally https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1560683-REG/lg_27gn950_b_27_ultragear_4k_nano.html

hey,

lets get the side things off the way first:

monitor - a good choice I presume, you can find cheaper ones for much less probably. Also, do you need that 240HZ? I would go for 4K and 60HZ or higher.

os - you can probably find much cheaper ones online.

pricings - gpu price is unrealistic but you can find them in local vendors or by live drops for reasonable prices. You should aim to invest 1000-1100$ in the rtx3080 and no more.

build:

cpu - I would go for AMD since their performance is pretty good overall, but regarding the stock problems you should stick with intel.

cooling - could save a lot on that pricy cpu cooler. case has good airflow so no extra fans needed.

ram - there are cheaper versions, your choice of course.

storage - waste of money since you will not even feel the slight difference between the 980 Pro and a very basic NVME, the loading times delta is mostly 0.1s tops.

mobo - overpriced unless you wanna OC. In the build I will choose the a cheaper option that allows OC but not the best.

overall I saved you over 800$ for things you don't need.

you could get 5800X with the money saved for sure.

College papers, presentations, and video calls nothing huge. Any recommendations for an ssd?

These PCS are known for having terrible Coolers, Motherboards, PSUS, and they have single channel RAM. This is not good advice.

Ok that's your opinion but I stand by my advice hence my comment "Invest in  a better cooler and RAM"

32GB 16x2 Corsair Vengeance is 189.99 USD On Amazon

AMD Wraith Prism Cooler *loose box* is 36.99 - 50 USD On Amazon

add those two things to the Ryzen spec system enable XMP and OC Via Ryzen Master and I dare say would be pretty bussin

We unfortunately don't live in a consumer friendly market at the moment and I'll level with you  I wouldn't suggest a product I wouldn't feel comfortable buying myself if my rig died right now this it what I'd buy no regrets and if down the road I wanted to build  another PC I'd have a Ryzen 7 and RTX 2070s ready to donate to the cause

and if the power supply is really that dog crap if OP has four grand budget surely they could get the extended warranty  🙂
