An idea to make GPUs available again & get rid of the miners.

I had this idea and i don't know why no one approaching it so far, to fight the miners. Why don't the big companies force the vendors to do the following?

1- Vendors are not allowed to sell more than 1 GPU per person, for the same GPU series.

2- Vendors check the national ID of the buyer on the official website of Nvidia/ AMD.
3- it shows that you are not eligible to buy an RTX 3080 because your already bought one from another vendor, but you can have one from each other series.
4- Buyer agrees to buy an RTX 2070, Vendor insert it's serial number and the buyer's ID to the official website.

5- Buyer is no longer eligible to buy an RTX 3080 or RTX 2070 anymore from anywhere of the world.

6- Miners are in crises, they can't buy GPUs in bulks anymore.
7- Stocks are full again, shelves are filled, prices go back to it's normal state.

8- Gamers win, miners lose.

so these idea i had for awhile, i want to know what's wrong with it, why is it not applicable or on the table?

Miners are only part of the issue

we can also put this to the fact that theres a chip shortage and more people want gpus this year.

1. They really don't care.

2. Not every country has a national ID system. Exhibit A: United States. Plus, you really shouldn't have to share your ID to get a fucking GPU.

2b. I have three different "national IDs" here in Canada. Passport, BCID, foreign passport. What would stop me from using all 3? Then maybe getting a photo health card, a drivers license, or some other type of national ID.

3. A lot of miners buy direct from distributors, same as retailers. Many don't buy from retail.

5. That would be really hard to track.

6-8. Miners have never bought in bulk from retailers. They buy direct from distributors.

it breaks a lot of laws and benefits the companies o and creates a massive security risk for ONLY legitimate gpu buyers.

i mean, if you think about it, it doesn't really benefit the companies anyway. now they have to track huge amounts of ID numbers, which is a big security risk, and they don't make any extra profit from it.

A lot of countries, including the U.S., the biggest market in the world, don't have national IDs, and even when there's other forms of ID available, laws often prevent retailers from actually using them to uniquely identify consumers.

Besides all that, what you're talking about would require a concerted, international effort, bridging local and national laws in each region, and the support of retailers, who would have to make major changes to their platform and systems, some of which still run on DOS for chrissakes.

Complete non starter.

1. Stop gaming

2. Computer companies go into crisis

3. Tell companies you won't game until you have GPU's

3. Enjoy your leverage

The only problem I see in my plan is that leverage is a fickle bitch
