They do not stick. They get STUCK. Only way to get them through is to suspend the task, let other task come to 99% and then I suspend those and resume previous. And even then, it's like lottery if they will even move.

Ah, ours don't have built in breakers. We rely on the home breaker box for that.

 

At least the breaker popped instead of the strip just catching fire. Basically what happened to me with that horrific 1U multibox off Amazon. Definitely wasn't built with the intention of pulling over 1000W continuously. :3

 

It got so hot the rocker switches welded themselves permanently on. Poor design for high loads.

Legal requirement here. Anything more than a 2 way has to have a breaker on it. Should have moved power cords around.... I didn't YOLO lol

 

Was fine all week so don't know why now was a problem, going to ignore it unless it happens again

Breakers, especially cheap ones, can get soft with ageing and most breakers. when running warm, will trip a little lower.

 

I tend to run 14/3 SJ (14 gauge, three conductor Rubber (Soft) Jacketed (SJ)) extension cords I make myself with industrial grade plugs. These work well for 120V, 15A circuits we have here in North America. Much better than the crappy 18/3 extension cords with molded plugs one can buy. Though it's way over specification (1800W) for the 500-600W loads I have on them I figure there's less chance of tripping a breaker and less I^2R losses as thicker conductors=less resistance.

 

I don't want to mess with electrical currents and want to avoid at all cost burning down the house. One of these days I'll replace the extension cords with dedicated circuits home-runned back to the panel but that's a can of worms I don't want to open just yet.

This is true, especially for conventional overcurrent protection devices. You could actually improve this lower trip level with airflow or a colder ambient room temperature. There are magnetic circuit breakers... but those are more for large currents in industrial settings etc

I don't know exactly how your breakers work over there but one of the features that trips them over here is (what I believe is called) a bi-metallic strip. As this heats up it bends tripping over-current protection.

 

If you were already near the limit any number of variables from ambient heat to age of the breaker as mentioned by Gorgon could explain why it tripped despite seeming fine for a week.

 

There are tricks you could use to get around this but I can't recommend any of them except maybe if you're working with mini-redundant PSU's put each cable on a different breaker.

Yea I doubt it's that with this kind and it's rather new, it's probably been right on the edge the whole time and transient spike just tripped it. I have way more on it than I should but I don't want to or have the time just now to actually reconfigure all my power runs to the servers etc.

The E@H GPU tasks seem to use only CPU for a while in the beginning slowly ramping up GPU usage and at the end while stating 99% also using only CPU, probably for unpacking and packing the data again so shouldn't be anything wrong with the tasks, I have had all complete and upload this far

Go to their website, click your account and under computing click view tasks

NFS doesn't seem to be handing out new tasks for the moment. I've switched my machines back to SiDock for a few hours to keep them active.
