Quote

What is BOINC?

Boinc is a collection of various distributed computing projects, it gives you the opportunity to lend your unused processing power to do calculations in the name of science and progress! This can be to help medical science, physics, mathematics, better understand nature, or pretty much anything you can find a corresponding project to, it's up to you to decide what you want your  computing horsepower to be used for, this gives scientists the chance to gather big amounts of data by giving them access to hundreds or thousands of computers, all of this is achieved by  running some software on your computer, there is also software available for smartphones.

Wow I'm soo rusty lol. I've like forgotten everything.

Well I've set a single 96 core system on the Marathon project that got "announced" early as a test, might as well do all my setup testing on that project since we know it's going to be used.

96 cores down, no idea how many more to go, exciting to find out though.

I'm expecting to pony up probably 30-40 threads myself, I'll be pausing folding and wiling to drop all four GPUs on a project when it gets announced.

I can put somewhere between 4-8 threads on the Marathon project, maybe upto 20 in the middle but that won't be full-time. I think I can allocate my 1060 to a project if there's a GPU specific project announced, though.

Desktop 1 : Ryzen 5 3600 (O/C to 4Ghz all-core) | Gigabyte B450M-DS3H | 24GB DDR4-2400 Crucial(O/C to 2667) | GALAX RTX 2060 6GB | CoolerMaster MWE 650 Gold

Desktop 2 : i5 10400 | 32GB DDR4-3200(@ 2667Mhz) |  EVGA GTX 1070 SC 8 GB | Corsair CV450M

Laptop : ASUS ROG Strix G17 : i7-10750H, 16GB RAM, GTX 1660Ti 6GB(90W), 1TB NVMe SSD

Yoga 3 14 - i7-5500U, 8GB RAM, GeForce GT 940M, 256GB SSD

10 threads of my Ryzen 5 3600 are yours to command.

GPUs stay F@H though.

EDIT:
And my Pentium III, though it's still on the single PrimeGrid task that I gave it on April 6th...

I’ll download Bionic for this.

8 threads of my server full time, 12 of my personal computer at night and the full force of the P4000 at night.

I will recommend an NHu12s (or an NHd15 (maybe)) for your PC build. Quote or @ me @Prodigy_Smit for me to see your replies.

I've got 24 threads currently deployed to the marathon with another 16 to come, I may be able to squeeze a couple more from somewhere else we shall see.

I'm going to ask can they give us a WAN shout out and a post with some details on would be helpful.

Also we are firing on all 40 cylinders threads now for the marathon, trying to acquire another 4-6 threads.

I'm probably able to be rather dynamic with my projects most days, but we need a captain to take the helm.

Well, you are the mod...

Jokes aside, once I get my iMac G5 going it will also run BOINC (because F@H doesn't support PowerPC).

As for my P3, it's been running this BOINC task for 392.5 hours and is at 81%.

I started it on... April 9th?

Blargh for busy life and all that jazz.  I will have some computers up for the Pent.

Should have the 1950X 16c/32t and the E5-2670V3 12c/24t again for this year through at it.  Right now need to get an beefy air cooler for the 5800X 8c/16t on order.  I might get the 5960X up.....just trying to recall if I have that darn x99 Gigabyte mobo, can't seem to find it atm.

Offset, only the 2070 Max-Q and a Titan X Pascal this time around to help out with some GPU WUs.

Or someone else can and I can copy that in to my post then hide the one I copied.

I'll likely only participate in COVID-related events. The process is pretty much the same across all the BOINC applications.

I wouldn't bee surprised to see either Rosetta or OpenPandemics be the Marathon this year.

I'll be throwing around 150 threads at this, and gpus will depend on projects selected. I have a mix of amd or nvidia I can select from, but warmer temps could limit how many I can comfortably throw at it. Hoping for Einstein or Milkyway for my 2 watercooled Radeon VII's. It's been tempting to sell them with the current market, but they are just soo good at those projects and a bit of mining as well. If I ever setup a dedicated boinc rig, they may live out the rest of their days in there.

Doubt it, I'll still have less than last year and this year every man and his dog will have Ryzen/Threadripper. I foresee doing worse this time round.

Perhaps, but we won't know that until it's over. Don't count us out before it even begins.

Besides, this year we have EPYC. :3
