How to Fix Your Overheating Intel CPU (Guide)

PapaTobias

Howdy there,

Recently I have noticed that plenty of people have been suffering from their Intel CPU's becoming unpleasantly hot (between 80-90c). I had the same issue until I found a fix that works on almost every Intel i7 and higher.

In order to do this method you must have Throttlestop installed. You must launch throttlestop when starting up your computer.

Once you have Throttlestop installed click "Disable Turbo"

Enjoy your 60 degrees celsius temperature!

If you need any help with the program, or cannot figure it out. Let me know and I'll gladly assist.

If you do that, then you lose performance

The best way to fix an overheating CPU is to repaste first, then if you're still having issues, buy a better CPU cooler

Edit: also ensure your cooler is mounted properly

Adding to that, on now getting old intel desktop CPUs (3rd and 4th in particular), delidding can be considered if temperatures are abnormally (90c to 100c) high despite a repaste.

Repasting doesn't work in most cases, out of factory it is hot. I didn't lose much performance it's just a little bit

@unclewebb Is the person to help you with a tutorial using throttle-stop for cooler temps and max performance. Actually, I've always hoped he would make a tutorial, perhaps he already has and I just haven't come across it yet.
