Would Ryzen 7 3700X be a bottleneck for RTX 3060?

Hey guys,
I'm looking forward to upgrading my PC soon, I did my research and came to a conclusion i would be choosing a Ryzen 7 3700X CPU, Patriot Viper Steel 16GB DDR4 3733MHz CL17 RAM, and a MSI B450M-A PRO MAX motherboard.
The only thing worrying me is if my (planned, i'm to poor to grab it rn) RTX 3060 wouldn't be bottlenecked by this setup, because obviously i want to utilize 100% of it.

My power supply is 750W, CPU cooler will change with this setup upgrade so still deciding on that one, i will be looking for something cheap and efficient, nothing fancy.
My current graphics card is a 1060 6GB, if that's something important to this thread.

What do you guys think? If anyone knows any better setups I would happily consider those.

P.S if that also matters the main usage for my pc is running not really performance heavy games,
multitasking (2x 1080p monitors) and i'm looking forward to playing some vr games on my quest 2 through virtual desktop when the pc will handle it.

That would be fine, not sure what your situation would be stock levels/ msrp wise but maybe get a 5600x over a 3700x?

 

I'm an IT System Admin with 15+ years worth of XP, plus I've been tinkering computers since I was old enough to hold a screwdriver, so I usually know what I'm talking about.

No it won't. 3700X is perfectly sufficient for a 3060.

I highly doubt the Ryzen 7 3700X would even bottleneck a RTX 3060...now if this was a processor from 2010, sure (or even AMDs FX lineup).

Make and model??? Some power supplies cannot handle the high transient loads of Nvidia's Ampere graphics cards well and can trip OCP.

Is your monitors high refreshrate?

At 1080p with high refreshrates the CPU matters more than at higher resolutions. The 3700x is a very good CPU by all means and will serve you good for a long time, but for gaming specifically you can get better for less.

Not really, 75 and 60hz. The thing I'm worried about is skipping frames while playing PCVR on my Quest 2, which is somehow getting a 120hz update real soon

It doesn't look like there is any problems with this power supply. Seasonic's FOCUS lineup is known to have issues with high transient loads though.

Thanks for the info. I doubt i will be changing it anytime soon so no bottlenecks with that i guess. Nice!

I dont think that will be an issue, your'e more GPU bound with that, I believe.

But as others has mentioned the 5600 will be a better option for most non-production related tasks
