No, because you're supposed to resolve what's inside the bracket during the P(arentheses)  or B(rackets) phase.

 

Once that's done, 2(4) is just 2 * 4. You don't prioritize it, because it's not a "Bracket" problem anymore, it's just multiplication, so standard multiplication rules apply.

The way you're solving it, you're putting implied brackets into the problem where they don't exist.

 

The problem is stated as:

8/2(2+2)

 

And you're solving it as if it's:

8/(2(2+2))

Exactly - I feel like when some people see a "divide by" sign, they (for... whatever reason), assume that you're dividing by the ENTIRE REST of the equation.

It’s elemantary school arithmetics, but most people don’t actually do much math or arithmetics in their lives after school and thus forget how stuff work.
