Does it's safe to use Pci-e 8 pin splitter?

I want to upgrade my 2060 super to 2070 super.

Thing is, I only have one 8 pin connector on the mobo and the 2070 super requires one 8 pin and one 6 pin connectors.

Assuming my PSU can handle it, It's safe to use 8 pin to 8 pin with 6 pin splitter?

2070 Super maximum wattage is 215 Watts, and the PCI-E x16 slot deliver 75 watts, Does it means the 2070 super will consume 140watts from the PSU? or it will try to max consuming the PSU first?

if your PSU can handle it, it should come with the adequate connectors

If your PSU only has one 6+2 pin it's a low wattage PSU or it's junk. Both not sufficient for a 2070 Super. What's the make and model of the PSU?

there 2 separate PSU's (power bricks) in my PC, one of 180 watts for CPU/ETC

and one of 280 Watts for GPU (Upgraded from 230 Watts), Which been told by Asus that it support 2070 Super.

Asus main site does mentioned that my PC support up to GTX 2080.
