Help with trying to install graphics card, expansion slot cover thing won't close

 I don't know anything about computers, but I'm trying to put a gt 1030 in my dell inspiron 3880 right now. I can't tell if its in properly, and the expansion slot closing thingy won't close. I also don't know where to put the screw. Please help ;-;

It is not installed properly. The metal bracket on the card should sit flush against the rear of the case, allowing you to close that "closing thingy". There is a tab at the end of the PCI slot toward the left side of the bottom image that may be impeding you from fully seating the card. It may require a bit more downward pressure, or you may need to move that tab out of the way.

 

Once you get it fully seated, the screw goes into one of those screw sized holes under the "closing thingy".

Thanks for replying, but how do I move the tab or add more pressure? I'm sorry I'm clueless right now

Push down on the card, especially on the end toward the rear of the case. If that doesn't work, then do the same, but shift the tab out of the way first.
