Gigabyte Z490 VGA LED stays on after boot

kanaron

Hello

I have strange and anoying problem with my motherboard Gigabyte Z490 Gaming X.

When I pluged HDMI cable into my GTX 1050 to first HDMI port everything worked correctly. But when I plugged it into other ports then I always got 5 beeps, red VGA LED stayed on, PC booted up correctly and I had screen output. So everything was great except 5 beeps and that VGA LED that was always on. No big deal, I just kept HDMI cable plugged into first port.

But later I changed GPU to RTX 3070. I am still plugging HDMI cable to first port. Everything was ok for most of the time. Very rarely I got 5 beeps and VGA LED and I had screen output but I just restarted PC and everything got back to normal. Until few days ago I bought anti sag stand just in case. There was a bit of sag. Long story short: it has RGB. RGB Fusion to control RGB can't handle wave effect properly. I had to do a lot of restarts. I did about 10 restarts

After one restart I got 5 beeps and VGA LED. After another restart again 5 beeps and VGA LED. Now almost every time I have 5 beeps and VGA LED

PC is working ok, I have screen output, PC boots up normally, everything is great but that 5 beeps and VGA LED is just very anoying. Also Im a bit concern if that could escalate in future. My mobo was repleaced once as first one had PCIE x16 slot that doesn't worked at all from factory

What is the form factor of your motherboard? If you have other x16 slots, try slotting it into that instead. If the problem persists, you may want to RMA your GPU.

Fuck you scalpers, fuck you scammers, fuck all of you jerks that charge way too much to tech-illiterate people.

Unless I say I am speaking from experience or can confirm my expertise, assume it is an educated guess.

Current setup: Ryzen 5 3600, MSI MPG B550, 2x8GB DDR4-3200, RX 5600 XT (+120 core, +320 Mem), 1TB WD SN550, 1TB Team MP33, 2TB Seagate Barracuda Compute, 500GB Samsung 860 Evo, Corsair 4000D Airflow, 650W 80+ Gold. Razer peripherals.

Also have a Alienware Alpha R1: i3-4170T, GTX 860M (≈ a 750 Ti). 2x4GB DDR3L-1600, Crucial MX500

ATX. Only one x16 slot.

GPU is ok for sure.

GTX 1050 was working great in previous build. In this build GTX 1050 was behaving same as RTX 3070 is behaving now (no problems at all just anoying VGA LED and 5 beeps). I rebuilded previous PC and GTX 1050 is still working great right now. I also had RTX 3070 in previous build for one day and also worked great

Both GPUs are sometimes giving anoying VGA LED and 5 beeps in this build and both are working great in previous build. Also I think bad GPU would give some bad symptoms like artifacts or no screen output but I dont have any screen related issues at all

Maybe RMA MOBO if possible. As I said I did RMA it once already and got it repleaced. Maybe this time they would refund it
