Is I9 10850K still worth the buying? It is 450 USD cheaper here than 5900X

Oh, really? What about cooling. Will dark rock 4 pro be enough?

I'd go with one of the better units on this list

DRP4 should be from everything I've read - it looks like a good cooler as well, just make sure the case and the memory will fit it

Or shall I go with B570 motherboard?

There is no B570 motherboard. It's either B550, or X570. As for which one, it'll more of less come down to features you want. Color, number of USB slots etc.

That being said, on the 5800x, I'd try to stay Tier S, S- or A in this list.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

Project Hot Box

CPU Ryzen 7 5800x, Motherboard MSI MPG B550I Gaming Edge Wifi, RAM CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 32GB 3200mhz (2x16), GPU AMD Raedon 6800 XT FE, Case Silverstone RVZ03B, Storage CORSAIR Force Series MP510 1920GB NVMe, CORSAIR FORCE Series MP510 960GB NVMe, PSU CORSAIR sf600, Cooling Noctua NH-L12S, Displays LG 34UC98-W 34-Inch, 32 inch curved that I can't find the model number for right now; UPerfect 7 inch LCD Aida64 Display, Keyboard Corsair K95, Mouse Corsair Nightblade, Sound AT2020+ USB Mic, Massdrop 6xx headphones, Schiit Magni, Modi Loki mini stack.

Oppbevaring

CPU i9-9900k, Motherboard, ASUS Rog Maximus Code XI, RAM, 48GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB 3200 mhz (2x16)+(2x8) GPU Asus ROG Strix 2070 8gb, MSI 1070 Gaming X 8gb, Case Phanteks Enthoo Evolv X, Storage Samsung 860 Evo 500 GB, 5x Seagate IronWolf 8tb NAS(ZFS1), PSU Corsair RM1000x, Cooling Asus Rog Ryuo 240 with Noctua NF-12 fans, OS Unraid

Why is the 5800x so hot?

My mistake. I meant X570. If there is not much of a difference, I am heading with https://www.varle.lt/pagrindines-plokstes/pagrindine-plokste-asus-rog-strix-b550-f-gaming-wi-fi--14196152.html in that case. I like it more. 😛 I will watch them.

The one other quirk with AMD and Zen 3. Motherboards may or may not come with a BIOS on it that will support a 5800x out of the box. However, most of the B550 and X570 boards will support "Bios Flashback." All you really need to be aware of here, is that you should have a USB drive with nothing on it except a recent BIOS version from the ASUS site.

https://rog.asus.com/us/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-b550-f-gaming-model/helpdesk_bios

Then you follow these steps.

Or if you're a video learner

Do note that all that is in the motherboard is the 24 pin power connector. No ram, no CPU no GPU, no SSD.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I think this time I will use a service shop. They should do all of this for me for 15 USD. Thank you for these tips!

The 5800X has a single die so it cannot dissipate heat compared to the 5900X that he recommends. The 5900X has two separate dies so this helps.

Everyone complains about power consumption and heat but the 10850K is not bad at all. With an AIO, no worries about thermal throttling. Here is one running fully loaded at a steady 4900 MHz on all cores. At a maximum temperature of 70°C, it is not bad at all. It is unlocked so it is easy to bump it up to 5000 MHz all core and it will still be under 80°C in Cinebench.

So you would prepare 10850 k?

So I built a new system...

What do you think now? What I am missing? I can't add fans because AIO goes in front of the panel..

if you're using the AIO up front as intake, just make sure to orient your top and rear fans as exhaust. Looks like the Meshify C comes with one fan - you'll want to get 2 more fans for the top for exhaust.

I would personally just toss the included fan, and replace them all with the fans of your choice.

i don't know anything about the deepcool case, but as far as the corsair, i would definitely opt for the airflow models. It's more work to clean, but solid front panel will suffocate your radiator and overall fresh air intake.

It's hard to get in Lithuania the airflow version, but this one is interesting. It has space for extra coolers and AIO's. https://www.corsair.com/ww/en/Categories/Products/Cases/Mid-Tower-ATX-Cases/5000D-Tempered-Glass-Mid-Tower-ATX-PC-Case/p/CC-9011208-WW

Not pushing specific cases on purpose, it's just all I know of.

Having had experience with closed front panel designs (NZXT S340 looking at you) I would never buy them again, outside of low-powered component situations.

I only ever recommend anything with an airflow design now.

You can also check out the Cooler Master NR600, which is also quite good but on the lower cost side.

I do. It is a quite nice indeed. 🙂

I personally have the 275r Airflow version, and I like it. If that's the normal 275r with solid front, I'd skip it.

But the P400a is also quite nice.

Oh yeah, I can see it on your banner. 🙂 Did not notice it. How is the quality?

It's high quality, feels pretty solid. I have two of them, got on sale.

Also fits huge air coolers if that's your thing.

Front panel design is not as good on airflow as the newer 4000D or 5000D airflow, and probably not as good as the Phanteks P400a/500a.

Also a little weirdly designed from a cosmetic stance.

But I have no complaints.

I would go with CORSAIR 4000D but it states the following:

  • Note:Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower Case has a front panel USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C port that can connect to the MSI MPG X570 GAMING PRO CARBON WIFI ATX AM4 Motherboard USB 3.2 Gen 1 header. A separate USB 3.2 Gen 1 to USB 3.2 Gen 2 header adapter will be required.

So I need to go with a different motherboard or get the adapter.

I don't know much about those adapters, so yeah definitely do your homework on those if this is a feature you need.
