proxmox need help max vcpu and QEMU

HI does anyone know how to set max vcpu limit?

i currently have 2X Xeon E5620 with 44gb ram when i try to start vm i get 

 
with 40 gb ram
Task viewer: VM 100 - Start
 
kvm: cannot set up guest memory 'pc.ram': Cannot allocate memory
TASK ERROR: start failed: QEMU exited with code 1
when i lover ram to 2gb 
TASK ERROR: MAX 4 vcpus allowed per VM on this node
anyone know any quick fixes
i would like to alocate all cpu power that means 2 sockets 8 cores

Although thin-provisioning should be possible at least by default you can't allocate more than 50% of your cores to any given VM.

 

If you're using Linux can you run it in a LXC Container? That would give you access to all of them and the system memory.

 

I'm not sure what's causing your RAM limit if you have 44GB available.

 

EDIT: I stand corrected. It should be possible.

 

Is Hyperthreading enabled? Is the VM NUMA aware? My C602 system can run all 16C/32T just fine.

Thank you for your anwser the Hyperthreading is enabled... where do i enable NUMA 😉 it's my first time installing it on a big server usialy i work with max 6 cores so never had any problems.

Part of your issue could be the age of the platform.

 

From the menu where you took that screenshot double-click the Processors entry. There should be an advanced menu button near the bottom. Clicking that will show a lot of extra tumbles including NUMA.
