Should I but a 1070 Ti?

Hello All,

Current setup

MB: GB H110M-S2PT

CPU: i3-6100

GPU: GTX1050 2GB

I play 1080p not very demanding titles, the 1050 was fine till I began playing ARK survival evolved and I need to dec res to 768 and even then have lag and freezes.

I found a used 1070 Ti for around 550$ USD, this is quite high IMO, but with regard to current market state and that the shortage is not expected to be resolved till 22-23, I think I would prefer to buy this now and eat the extra cost then to wait 1-1.5 year as I could need to upgrade by then again anyhow.

I am looking to upgrade my cpu to avoid bottlenecks but will also be a 6-7th generation like 6600 or 7600 depending on what is available and the price as well

So Any tips pr advice? I am in egypt as well so shipping from abroad is not very easy and I prefer to deal in the local market.

Thank you all

That honestly sounds a lot more like CPU bottleneck. If lowering video quality doesnt help, it's not the GPU.

I highly doubt the GPU shortage is going to last that long (However there's no real way to tell). Already the situation is starting to improve (slightly), it's possible that we could have it be mostly resolved by q4 2021 or q1 2022. I'd highly recommend just waiting and seeing what happens.

I am NOT a professional and a lot of the time what I'm saying is based on limited knowledge and experience. I'm going to be incorrect at times.
My build:
CPU: 10700k Oc'd to 5.0 ghz                            GPU: RTX 3070 ventus 2x
Motherboard: Asus z490-v                                Cooler: Deepcool castle ex 120mm
Ram: Team tforce delta 32gb 3200mhz cl16     Case: Phanteks p418r (p360a ripoff)
PSU: Apevia Prestige 800w

Notes:
Spoiler

To me the 10700k seems pretty underrated. It's a very solid cpu. at 5.0ghz it draws 175-185w under full load. the Asus z490-v is a sh*t teir motherboard, I wouldn't recommend it for anything past a 10600k for light oc's only. Tforce ram is pretty but cpu cooler clearance can be an issue on them, so beware. the RTX 3070 is obviously a great card, but the ventus 2x is just horrible. Don't buy it, not now, not ever. It's flimsy af, you can't increase the stock power limit, the cooler is worse than the one on the 3070FE. If it's a choice between this and nothing, choose nothing. The deepcool castle ex 120mm isn't really on sale outside of prebuilts, but it's a nice pretty cooler, gets my 10700k up to 96c after a prime95 cpu test for 15 minutes. The p418r is basically what it looks like. P360a, slap a few cyberpowerpc logos on it, and you're golden. The Apevia Prestige 800w is bad, but not terrible. Runs respectably quiet and isn't a bomb. More than a lot of PSU's in prebuilts can claim.

It's only two cores, and most (modern) games assume your system has 4 or more cores.

So what I get is I should try to update the Cpu first and see how it goes, Ok seems feasible and I can try to go this route, I will check for 6 or 7th gen cpu or maybe even buy a new MB with a new processor in case there is no 6-7th gen available.

Thank you for feedback and support 🙂

try finding i7 6700 or 7700. i5 6400 and 8400 are pretty bad. otherwise just get h410 and 13 10100f or 10400f

I'd like to add you shouldn't spend more than $150 for a 6700 or 7700. If none are available at that price, definitely go 10th/11th gen.
