Either of the following should be good picks, for under $200:

As tou are using RTX 3080 and ryzen processor just get 1000W power supply it will be good for you and try to get a sesconic or corsair power supply

That is nonsense. 1000W for a 3080 and 5800X will be completely pointless, and a PSU having Corsair's or Seasonic's logo on it doesn't tell a thing about its actual quality.

I built a rig with a 5800X and a MSI Ventus 3080 in December of last year. I reused my old EVGA G3 650W that I bought in 2018 hoping that it'd work out but I get crashes occasionally. Today, Rise of the Tomb Raider gave me quite a few crashes and previously it was GTA5. Cyberpunk runs fine.

I feel like it may very well be my PSU, but since I'm running a weaker PSU anyway, I might as well replace it.

I'm looking at the tier list and seeing what's available locally in Toronto. I'd like to spend around $200 CAD, and I'm looking at the Seasonic FOCUS GX-850 (FOCUS-GX-850) but I'm not totally sure how to read this tier chart. This seems like a reasonable choice. Thoughts and maybe other recommendations?

Thanks!

in order to choose a suitable psu for your system, follow these 3 steps:

  1. tdp rating of cpu and gpu
  2. power spike of cpu and specifically the GPU under load
  3. the size of your system, how many components

The teir list works with ctrl+f.

the seasonic gx units are a teir.

though I would go for the RM850x (also a teir)

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

Typical number of components so I'm looking at 850W. Maybe even 1000W (as per Sagnik_Pandit's reply).

Ah, I did not see the RM850X on the list. I thought it was only the AX for Corsair. Why do you prefer the RM? They're shorter on stock in my area but it's also doable and comparable in price.

1000W PSUs get a bit pricey if I don't need the extra but I'll consider it.
