HDD Costs doubled in a week, is it local to me?

So Where I am, traditonal HDD costs doubled this past week from third part sellers and JD.com (China's Amazon) is basically sold out of all HDD's of 4tb or larger. I know GPU's and CPU's are hard to get but up until this past week, storage was as normal. What happened last week?

No problem here in Europe.

Same price and no shortage.

(I'm not using Amazon or Alibaba though)

I'm willing to swim against the current.

Prices here actually dropped quite a bit. Got 2TB Barracuda for almost like $45 and few 512GB spectrix NVMes for less than 75$ a piece. Prices of the storage here in Europe really quite tasty right now. Wish i could say that about AMD GPUs as well though 馃様.
