Is there any way to have a online MC game without a server?

Helpful Tech Witch

I want to play Minecraft with friends on our own world.

I would lover to set up a server, but I dont think 2 cores and 4gb ram would be enough.
Is there any way to either

A. host the  server on my pc when im playing and have it be playable

or

B. have a non local lan game?

It wouldnt be for many people, 4 at a time max.

or would a server be wnough?

The specs I can put in a server would be either

A: c2d e4300 + 4gb ecc ddr2 667

or

B: pentium e5200 w/ bsel + 2gb ddr2 666mhz

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

For 4 players the Core2Duo may actually do fine. I would personally try that first.

It would probably be fine, just make sure nothing else is running on that system.

The more I learn, the more I realise I don't actually know anything.

Recommendations: Lian Li 205m (sleek, pretty decent airflow for a non-mesh front panel and cheap), i5-10400f (Ryzen 5 3600 performance, 20% cheaper), Arctic P14 PWM fans, Logitech g305.

I did that with an iMac with a i5-7500

and 8GB of RAM, so you should be fine on a 7400.

CPU - Ryzen 5 5600X | CPU Cooler - EVGA CLC 240mm AIO  Motherboard - ASRock B550 Phantom Gaming 4 | RAM - 16GB (2x8GB) Patriot Viper Steel DDR4 3600MHz CL17 | GPU - MSI RTX 3070 Ventus 3X OC | PSU -  EVGA 600 BQ | Storage - PNY CS3030 1TB NVMe SSD | Case Cooler Master TD500 Mesh

Should I opt for more CPU perf or 2gb vs 4gb ram? I can have a faster CPU, but it comes at the cost of max 2gb ram.

I need to get a board for my q6600. It would be able to be a 4 core and 4gb.

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

The core of the server is Single Thread heavy, though it can use multiple threads.

So the faster IPC would be more ideal, however for 3- 5 players the recommended ram configuration is 3 to 4 GB, on a Linux Server with no GUI and 4-6 on a Windows Server with a GUI

PaperMC may also help in running on lower end hardware.

Looks fairly straightforward through the app I guess it uses. https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/1797/

Default Port is "25565" UDP/TCP

You can just assign it on your system.

Open Command Prompt -> ipconfig
Go to Settings -> Network and Internet -> Change Adapter Settings
Right Click your active Connection -> Properties -> Internet Protocol Version 4 -> Properties

Set it up something like below

Oh. The guide I was using said it had to be done via the router.

The only thing you should need to do on the router is port forwarding to the static ip you assigned to the host.

You should grab the settings from ipconfig and copy them over. To prevent the DHCP server from assigning your static ip to another device in the event your device temporarily goes offline, I would set the last part of the IP Address to something that wouldn't normally be assigned. DNS can be set to whatever DNS you prefer or your Gateway IP.

the default gateway is empty in ipconfig. What should I do for it?

I don’t know if you’ve got it working but here is what I have to say. I’ve been running multiple servers for about a year now, for how much ram you need it’s more about the plugins/mods and how big the world is than the number of players. 4gb of ram should do everything you need and your cpu is fine, most of my servers run on 2 core pentiums and are fine.

Ok, also if you are using a pc that you don’t use fir anything else I would recommend some form of Linux with no GUI or lxde.
