Need advice from those who use CableMod

lerodemmy

I need to order some cables and I have to decide between ModMesh and ModFlex.  My understanding is that ModMesh is generally better.

Due to the rigidity of ModMesh, my concern is that the PCIe cables won’t be flexible enough to allow the case’s glass side panel to lock in place.

I’m wondering if I should go with ModFlex because they’ll be easier to bend back and away from the glass.

Case is Lian Li O11 Dynamic XL ROG.  GPU is 3090 FTW3 Ultra.

Modmesh is stiff, but I've never had any issue forcing it into bends it needed to make. You may need to zip tie em at first, but they hold that shape on their own pretty soon (I believe that's what training the cables is?). So well that it's actually an annoyance when I swap cases and want the cables to bend a different way 😂

As for Modmesh vs flex, I haven't had the latter so I can't personally speak on it, but @CableModis on the forums and I'm pretty sure they can give you a run-down on what the differences are.

@lerodemmy our ModMesh is stiffer so you can make some cleaner looking runs out of them, but you can also still form them to a shape that is still easily workable though. I've attached a photo of this for reference so you can see. ModFlex is more flexible though if you didn't want to risk it and wanted that additional flexibility. 🙂
